ABOUT US!
We are Kingsville's newest Arts Centre - a place for children to explore the arts, make new friends, create, and learn new things using their own ideas! Our centre firmly believes in a process-over-product approach, with our goals and practices being rooted in play, exploration, and a joy of learning and for the arts!
What makes us different is our philosophy that children learn best when they are having fun, and when they have opportunities to ask questions, challenge themselves, play and create!
This is why we strive to create an environment that inspires joy, curiosity, and creativity.
The basis of everything we do here is built on our understanding that when children are interested, curious, and excited about what they are doing, they will be more motivated to continue, to try new things, to ask questions and to seek out answers - which all lead to learning!
As Plutarch said:
"The mind is not a vessel to be filled,
but a fire to be kindled."
This philosophy can be found in each and every program that we offer.
From group arts programs to private music lessons:

our goal is to share our love for the arts with others -

in the most fun and exciting ways possible!
Why the name?
Not only is "Creative Mode" a popular gaming term that brings to mind words such as freestyle, imagination, open-ended and limitless, but it is also a Montessori term that refers to the exploration and creation of art without a point of reference to copy. These are all a part of our philosophy and methodology at Creative Mode: creating opportunities for children to explore their own ideas in their own ways; open-ended, limitless.

Our Dream
We are a pair of artists and educators in our mid-twenties who love the arts as much as we love teaching. We have seen and experienced music, drama, and art be taught in a variety of ways, and have taught it ourselves in countless contexts. Something we have always come back to is how formal and overly structured learning an art or instrument can be, to the point of it practically seeming like a chore. When considering the imagination, curiosity, and joy that exists in every child, the way that they are often taught and engaged with does not really make sense. This was the foundation of us pursuing our dream of starting our own Arts Centre: a place where we prioritize the children's interests and ideas in all of our planning and teaching; a place where children are not talked at, but are encouraged to speak freely, ask questions, and share their own knowledge; and a place where the arts are an exciting and fulfilling part of each child's life - so that piano lessons may be as thrilling as a soccer game! Because that is how children - how people work! Mundane, repetitive, and forced learning is not how an adult would likely best learn a new hobby or skill, so why should we expect that children can thrive and excel this way? This is why we are committed to making each day more fun than the last - because it is what we love to do, and we know your child will love it, too!
